Prescription Drugs & Pay Direct Prescription Drug Service FAQ's

 

All practitioners must be licensed, certified or registered, is neither an Insured, or a member of the immediate family and does not ordinarily reside in the Insured’s residence.

 

How do I use my Loyalist Student ID Card for the Pay Direct Prescription Drug Service?

Your Loyalist Student ID Card will NOT be accepted at any pharmacy until

  • SEPTEMBER START STUDENTS: starting Tuesday, October 11
  • JANUARY START STUDENTS: starting Monday, January 30

Students are affected by a blackout period that prevents them from utilizing the Pay Direct Prescription Drug Service until these timelines. We are assembling the database of all eligible students and the collection/transfer of this information to the online system at ClaimSecure. These records are used to put your personal information online at the pharmacy so you can make a pay-direct claim. Although this service cannot be utilized until the blackout period is over, students are considered covered* from September 6, 2011 and on. If you are affected by this delay, original receipts can be saved and submitted using the manual reimbursement system once the blackout period is over.

All that is required to use the Pay Direct method, is for you to present your valid Loyalist Student ID Card at any pharmacy displaying the ClaimSecure sign:


Please also keep the following information handy in the event that you will need to supply the pharmacist with it:

  • Your Group Number is 513979
  • Provider: ClaimSecure (formerly RxPlus/Merx Health Corporation)
  • Your Student ID #
    • _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ G
    • (10 digit alpha numeric number: your 9 digit student number plus the letter G)
    • I.E. If your student ID # is 9 digits, the correct ID # would be 987654321G

Your Drug Claims are paid by ClaimSecure. As a result, the pharmacist will be able to process the claim immediately, so you won’t have to pay the full amount up front for the claim and wait to be reimbursed. You will be required to pay the 20% deductible amount of your claim.

My student card was not accepted at the pharmacy. Why? What do I do?

There are a few different reasons for having complications at your pharmacy. Below are some scenarios:

  • Your Loyalist Student ID Card will NOT be accepted at any pharmacy until

  • Your pharmacist may not be familiar with the procedure for processing a prescription claim through ClaimSecure. All pharmacies displaying the ClaimSecure sign will have access to a pharmacist toll free number for the ClaimSecure Call Centre that they can use to assist you on the spot.
  • If you experience complications at the pharmacy that are not related to the above descriptions, please call ACL Student Benefits for help.

I have been unable to locate a ClaimSecure participating pharmacy? What do I do? 

It will be necessary for you to pay the cost of the prescription and keep the official prescription receipt(s) for the total amount. Please use the manual reimbursement system.

What if I do not have my Loyalist Student ID Card?

If you do not have your Loyalist Student ID Card, you will have to use the manual reimbursement system. Visit LoyalistStudents.com for dates when you can get your Student ID Card.

Can I track my own Claims? Can you reimburse my claim using direct deposit?

 YES, once registered, plan members can:

  • view personal claims history
  • select direct deposit for claim payments
  • access dependent claims information (for those members under the age of majority)
  • obtain details on the reason for particular claim adjustments or rejections
  • submit coverage queries online through the “Ask the Expert” feature
  • print individual claims for Co-ordination of Benefits (COB)
  • run consolidated statements for tax purposes
  • access claim forms and important health information.
